After Jungle Jim finds an American army captain's dog tags among the remains of a dead pygmy, he joins a U.S. military investigation not only to find the missing soldier, Captain Ann Kingsley, but also to look into a recently discovered kind of rope that will not burn or break. The pygmy had been killed by the Bush Devil cult but little is known of them. In fact, others are after the plant used to make this indestructible rope fiber and it's up to Jungle Jim to stop them. He will face crocodiles, stampeding elephants and a gorilla along the way.

Jungle Jim is the man!!

I can't believe how much fun Jungle Jim movies really are! I stayed up very late to watch this one and it's a real gem! Anything with... Johnny Weissmuller, Billy Curtis (wearing a black long wig), jungle settings, tons of stock footage, Johnny fighting a rubber crocodile and a guy in a gorilla suit (is that Crash Corrigan? Looks like his suit.)...is well worth it. This is one that should not be missed! Too bad Johnny only made 16 Jungle Jims.

There is quite a good cast for this film but most of them are woefully wasted,for the life of me how Douglas Fairbanks got himself involved in this piece of fluff escapes me on all whole a very average film

Murky Waters

A strong drama about the lives of the "mensús" (name given in Argentina to persons that received a monthly pay) who worked under terrible conditions in the mate plantations located in the Northeastern region of Argentina, and wanted modern work regulations . The drama is told from the point of view of a couple that also represents a new type of relationship, different from other couples in which women are abused. The film is based on the novel "El río oscuro" (The Dark River), by Alfredo Varela (who was in prison during production), a work that differs from those that stress the dichotomy rural setting-the city, and centers on the problems of its location, searching solutions within its community. Singer Hugo del Carril turned filmmaker and became a prestigious author, here following the Italian neo-realist aesthetics. A true classic of Argentinean cinema.

Interesting Curiosity Piece.

This movie hasn't seen the light of day for many, many years but is now available on DVD. It is also dubbed into English, from its original Italian dialogue, although it has to be said that the print isn't exactly top quality. As for the film itself, it was awarded an "X" certificate in the UK upon its original release in the 1950's. Its central theme involves the main character (Eleanora Rossi Drago) attempting to seek out her missing sister (Liliana Gerace) in the cities of Turin and Genoa. It tackles the subject of prostitution, without actually using the word, and that is obviously why it was given an adults only rating, upon its release. Watching "Behind Closed Shuters" now, there's no getting away from the fact that it is rather dated, and its pace is quite labourious. However, the most memorable features involve the characterisations, as the people you will see in this movie are amongst the strangest looking individuals ever consigned to film. It also manages to convey an atmosphere of foreboding befitting its storyline, which is also helped along by fine performances from Drago and Gerace. Overall, it is quite a striking film despite its obvious flaws.
